24.2. Four Fast

The four fasts are :
1. On 10 Teveth. Called by the Prophets צום העשירי Tzom Ha-'Assirì ~ "fast of the tenth since the fasting month of Tevet is the tenth month of Nissan which is the head of months. In it was conquered all the land of Israel and Yerushalaim was besieged.
2. 17 of Tammuz. Called by the prophets "fast of the fourth" (the fourth month of Nissan) in which they fell the walls of Yerushalaim and the city was conquered.
3. On the 9th of Av Called by the prophets "fast of the fifth (the fifth month of Nissan) has been demolished the Bet Ha-Miqdash.
