Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Ferruccio Fazio has signed the Order on "Urgent measures in the field of vaccine prophylaxis of pandemic influenza H1N1."
The measure identifies the categories of persons to whom it is directed the offrta influenza vaccination with pandemic H1N1 vaccine from the time of the actual availability of the vaccine (the delivery to the Regions and Autonomous Provinces is expected in the period 15 October to 15 November 2009) to cover at least 40% of the population residing in Italy.

- people deemed essential for the maintenance of continuity of care and work:
health personnel and social health, public security forces personnel and civil defense ; Government personnel, Government and Society to ensure essential public services; regular blood donors;
- women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy;
- people at risk, aged 6 months and 65 years;
- people aged between 6 months and 17 years, not included in the preceding paragraphs, on the basis of the technical updates authorized by the EMEA or the particulars to be provided by the Board of Health;
- people between 18 and 27 years, not included in the above paragraphs.
Particularly at risk are considered those with: chronic diseases affecting the respiratory system, including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, COPD, cardiovascular diseases, including congenital and acquired heart disease, diabetes mellitus and other metabolic diseases, diseases renal insufficiency with renal diseases of the hematopoietic and hemoglobinopathies, cancer, severe liver disease and cirrhosis of the liver, congenital and acquired diseases involving inadequate production of antibodies, immunosuppression induced by drugs or HIV, chronic inflammatory diseases and intestinal malabsorption syndromes, diseases associated with an increased risk of aspiration of respiratory secretions, such as neuromuscular diseases, obesity with body mass index (BMI)> 30 and severe underlying disease, the condition of a family member or close contact with persons at high risk for temporary or permanent contraindications can not be vaccinated.
Based the availability of pandemic vaccine during the vaccination campaign will be integrated into the other categories of subjects.
The vaccine will be distributed to regions and autonomous provinces on the basis of population and other government departments on the basis of specific agreements.

With regard to vaccination of pregnant women, subjects aged 6 months to 17 years and covaccini will be issued a detailed order after following the opinion of the Supreme Council of Health.
